Trout are starting to look up when water flows are favorable, taking emergers on the swing and each afternoon march browns are popping all around.
Spring Chinook are showing up on the lower Umpqua and the run will continue to build over the coming weeks and if I get really lucky, the flows may even lend themselves to the swung fly!
Spring Bear are out and about and making themselves a nuisance to property owners in the areas I hunt and will continue to feed heavily in the mornings and evenings on south facing slopes and grassy areas until other food sources become available.
Me, I'll start getting used to less and less sleep as the spring days continue to slip towards the long days of summer and I'll love every minute of it! Ya, I snivel about the lack of sleep and whine about trying to figure out what I want to do and what my clients will enjoy the most, but no doubt, this is one of my favorite times of the year! I'm thankful I live and guide in Oregon. If I lived in Alaska, I'd already be dead : )
